One of the cool parts of my work with the IGDA is that I get to travel to interesting places and meet lots of diverse people from around the world/industry. Here’s where I was in 2006 (ie, stayed at least one night).
- Tampa, FL + Cozumel, Mexico (Microsoft Academic Days on Gaming)
- Ottawa, ON (Prime Time)
- San Jose, CA (Game Developers Conference)
- Los Angeles, CA (E3)
- Raleigh, NC (Digital Game XPO)
- Middlesbrough + Brighton + London (Develop + Women in Games)
- Ottawa, ON (media training)
- Boston, MA (Sandbox Symposium + SIGGRAPH 06)
- Boston, MA (ASAE + Postmortem)
- Raleigh, NC (IGDA board strategy retreat)
- Portalegre + Lisbon, Portugal (GAMES2006)
- Montevideo, Uruguay (touring/lecturing)
- Montreal, QC (Montreal International Game Summit)
- Liverpool, UK (Game Design and Technology Workshop)
Sadly, didn’t make it back to Asia this year, but did hit the South American continent for the first time! And, despite my desire to slow down a bit (ie, due to family commitments and all), I seem to be traveling more each year… Or, at least a few more over last year. In fact, I probably had to refuse more invitations than what I could accept. What’s that joke about cloning???
Also, oddly, this is the first time I’ve gone to the same city twice during the year - and it happened three times (Ottawa, Boston and Raleigh).

Nice, I’m hoping to get down to South America in a month or two. This year I only got to go to San Jose, but 2007 will be a good travelcade for me. I’m also moving to LA, how nuts is that?

[…] Didn’t quite make it out as much as last year (nice to have a decrease in travel for once), but did take two longer-than-usual trips (ie, 10+ days) to Japan and SF+Australia. On the whole, still seems like I’m out more than I should be… […]
