This ironic twist of fate is not being lost by the media… Ex-Ubisoft head honcho, Martin Tremblay, is being blocked from working as the new head of Vivendi Games’ worldwide studios. He is being nailed by the same contract clause that he was so fierce in defending on various occasions when Ubisoft development staff were jumping ship.

On a personal level I thought Tremblay was a charismatic figure in the Montreal scene and his track record as head of Ubi’s largest studio spoke for itself. However, I always confronted him on issues of quality of life at the studio and questioned his use of non-compete clauses to keep staff captive.
