Aside from all the other cool projects/work going on, we’ve been crunching behind the scenes on re-booting the IGDA for life outside of the CMP support structures.

I suppose this is mainly nuts and bolts kinda stuff that should be relatively transparent to the members/industry, but it is indeed an important milestone for the organization as a whole. There’s a lot of exciting (and scary) aspects to this evolution, but the most important this is that game developers wake up and get more involved in the meta-level issues of this industry…

The IGDA is nothing more than a facilitator for change, and without engaged members who believe in the need/role of a professional society to serve as a collective voice on industry issues, the org will stall.

While the internal logistical work has been challenging, ironically, the IGDA’s biggest challenge remains the overall apathy of the majority of game developers…

But I digress. It has been truly fulfilling to usher in the next chapter of the IGDA’s history.
